Business Automobile Coverage

This glossary is intended to provide a general overview of policy types and available coverage. Specific policy language must be referenced to determine the exact coverage, terms, conditions, and exclusions contained in that policy.

Mandatory Coverages

Business Auto is designed to protect your business in the event of accident, theft, injury, or other damages incurred to your owned business vehicles or as a result of the operation of these vehicles.

Non-owned Auto protects against loss caused by an employee driving their own car on company business. Third party claims are covered up to the policy limit.

Hired Car liability protects your business when an employee is held liable for damages while driving vehicles being used under contract or borrowed by your company.

Bodily Injury liability provides protection in the event an employee driving a company auto injures others, and the company is held liable. It includes such expenses as medical bills and lost wages up to the policy limit per person.

Property Damage liability provides protection in the event an insured company auto damages the property of others and the employee is held responsible.

Medical Payments Coverage provides protection when an employee or his/her passengers are injured in an auto accident. This covers such expenses as medical and surgical bills, up to the policy limit, regardless of who is at fault.

Personal Injury protection provides protection in the event an employee or his/her passengers, are injured in an auto accident. This covers such expenses as medical and rehabilitation cost, wage loss, replacement services, and funeral expenses up to the policy limit.

Underinsured Motorist pays the difference up to the policy limit, between the amount you are entitled to receive for an injury resulting from an accident and the actual amount of insurance carried by the driver responsible for your injuries.

Uninsured Motorist Liability pays for expenses that an employee or his/her passengers incur as a result of an accidental injury caused by an uninsured motorist who is held liable.

Uninsured Motorist Property Damage pays for the property damage by an uninsured motorist to an insured company auto.

Optional Coverages

Comprehensive pays for loss or damage to an insured auto when caused by theft, wind, fire vandalism, explosion, or any other covered peril. It pays up to the policy limit, less the deductible.

Collision pays for damage to a company auto caused by collision with any object or upset of the auto. It pays up to the policy limit less the deductible.

Towing and Labor pays for towing and labor costs when an insured auto becomes disabled.

Rental Reimbursement pays for rental of an auto, when an insured auto is disabled due to an insured loss.
